AM/PM Routines. What's the Difference?

AM/PM Routines. What's the Difference?

You wear different clothes during the day than you do at night, right? (Right?!?) Skincare should be no different. To see results you need to tailor your routine to your skincare needs, which are very different during the day than at night. A daytime skincare routine aims to protect your skin while you’re out and about, while a nighttime routine focuses on repairing and rejuvenating your skin.

Daytime is when you are most active, which means your skincare routine should focus on hydration and protection. The first step in any morning routine is a nice refreshing cleanse! Your pillowcase contains a lot of bacteria and germs, so it is important to wash them away (and to change your pillowcase at least 1x per week!).

H2O+ offers two signature cleansers, designed to deep clean without stripping skin of essential hydration. If you prefer a foamier experience, try our Hydration Oasis Creamy foaming cleanser. For those that like to wake up a little slower, our Hydration Sensitive Gel Cleanser is a delightfully gentle experience.

Next up, an essence. For those used to using a toner, check out why you should upgrade to an essence you’ll never look back. Our Hydration Sensitive Essence and our Hydration Oasis Priming Water Essence will beautifully prep your skin for the rest of your routine, making each next step more effective! A key step in any routine is your serum. Serums are made to target specific skincare conditions, delivering concentrated ingredients for maximum results. Our Age Renew Hydro Serum targets fine lines and wrinkles, our Hydration Oasis Moisture Replenishing Serum will leave your skin radiant and deeply nourished, and our Hydration Sensitive Milk Serum helps reduce redness and calm skin.

For truly targeted results, turn to an eye cream. Lightly apply eye cream with your ring finger to help brighten, de-puff, and smooth the appearance of crow’s feet. We recommend our Hydration Age Renew Eye Cream which can do all that and more.

Finally, moisturize. Always finish off with moisturizer to seal in all that carefully layered hydration and protect your skin barrier. We’re best known for our Hydration Oasis Refreshing Gel Moisturizer, or “blue gel” as we like to call it. Sensitive skin types might prefer our Hydration Sensitive Gel Cream Moisturizer. Both are clinically proven to more than double skin hydration so you really can’t go wrong.

That feeling when you finally fall into bed at night? Skin loves that too. Like clockwork, skin switches from “protect” to “restore” mode at night. In addition to accelerated cell renewal, skin also becomes more receptive to topical treatment, so a good nighttime skincare routine is built to complement these awesome natural processes.

First, cleanse away the day. Whether you wear a full face of makeup or go au naturel, environmental pollutants and grime from the atmosphere still need to go.

Follow with your new can’t-live-without-it essence to help prep your skin for what comes next and provide a great base layer of hydration.

Choose a serum to target an area of concern, maybe a different one than you targeted during the day. Skin is primed and ready to renew itself at night, so serums are the perfect complement with their concentrated formulas.

The under-eye area is the thinnest and most fragile part of our face so boost its renewal process overnight by applying a generous dose of eye cream.

Lastly, seal it all in with a moisturizer or night mask. Use a thicker cream to replenish all the moisture lost throughout the day and because skin is even more prone to moisture loss overnight. Try our Hydration Oasis Nourishing Gel Cream with its velvety texture and intense moisture delivery or our Hydration Age Renew Night Mask for extra firming and smoothing, as needed.
